Environmental Officer----Open

Chunxing Corporation Pty Ltd will soon commence to build a state-of-the-art Used Lead Acid Battery (ULAB) Recycling Facility in Hazelwood North, Victoria. This facility will process 50,000 tonnes of ULAB into 27,000 tonnes of refined lead and other by-product streams.

As part of our ongoing commitment to employing locally, we are looking for a highly organised, hardworking talented, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Environmental Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To support, advise and lead on all matters of Environmental Analysis, Reporting and Remediation Services. To deliver the Construction and ultimately Commercial Operation of the ULAB (Used Lead Acid Battery) Recycling Facility. 

  • Liaising with Management, Project Engineers, Consultants, Contractors and other Specialists in relation to Environmental Management Compliance. Implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).

  • Perform planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, corrective action, and other environmental programs.

  • Development and writing of reports in documenting environmental issues and solutions.  Developing solutions to control, fix or prevent environmental problems. Review different environmental statistics and draft in-depth reports based on data they’ve found.

  • Determine data collection methods, then collect and analyse samples of soil, water, air, and other materials. Conduct fieldwork to investigate the nature and extent of soil, sediment, groundwater, and other media contamination.

  • Observe, document and guide subcontractors in the advancement of excavations, topsoil, weeds and invasive species, silt/clay, stormwater, groundwater and wastewater management.

  • Attending project meetings.

  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget and ensuring adherence to these.

  • Estimate Cost/Budgets for Environmental Compliance, Reporting and Research.

  • Part of Management Team to deliver the Used lead Acid Battery Recycling Facility to Commercial Operation.

  • Ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.

  • Flexibility to work construction hours.

 

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, or related field. 

  • Preferred minimum of 3 Years of site experience in a relevant Industry or transferrable experience from other site works.

  • Strong attention to detail with strong report writing skills in documenting environmental issues and solutions.

  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal and teamworking skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.

  • The ability to work well under pressure.

  • Experience as a team member and/or managing a team.

 

Duration of Contract:

12 months contract with possible extension to be negotiated within 2 months of contract completion.

Project Superintendent----Closed

Chunxing Corporation Pty Ltd is looking for a Project Superintendent with a Civil background to oversee our contractors and construction crews. This is a supervisory role, you will be responsible for both budget and onsite personnel management and oversee all work on site.

Project Superintendent Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing the on-site contractors and construction team.

  • Coordinating and overseeing all work on site.

  • Attending project meetings.

  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with the schedule and budget, and ensuring adherence to these.

  • Ensuring quality standards are met.

  • Placing orders for materials, and is responsible for equipment and materials on site.

  • Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness.

  • Ensuring the construction process starts and ends on time, and ensuring daily and weekly deadlines are met.

  • Monitor and report on project progress.

  • Plan construction processes.

  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.

 

Project Superintendent Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience as a project superintendent.

  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.

  • Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field is an advantage.

  • To review, support and advise on all matters of Chemical, Biochemical and Process Operations during Design, Construction and ultimately Commercial Operation of the ULAB (Used Lead Acid Battery) Recycling Facility. 

  • Part of Management Team to deliver the Used lead Acid Battery Recycling Facility to Commercial Operation

  • Facilitation of Mass Balance and Process Chemistry Design and Operation

  •  Using and developing process simulation software to work out the best production methods. Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems

  •  Ensuring that equipment works to its specification and to appropriate capacities. Collecting data required to make improvements and modifications

  • Assessing Safety and Environmental issues

  • Liaising with Installation/Project Engineers and Specialists

  • Ensuring safe working conditions and compliance with health and safety legislation.

 

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Chemical Engineering Qualification

The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, capable of working well both independently and in teams. The Document Controller should be detail-oriented and comfortable communicating all issues clearly to the supervisor. Preference will be given to those with experience in the construction industry. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Collect, scan and upload documents following set procedures

  • Ensure all technical documents, such as reports, drawings and blueprints, are collected and registered in the system

  • Document management software for everyday operations, maintenance and quality control

  • Notify personnel of updated document versions and how to access them

  • Print and distribute documents as necessary

  • Work with documents and records across various departments.

 

Skills

  • Qualification in computer science, business administration or similar field

  • Knowledge of document management software and document capture/image capture systems

The candidate will be comfortable with general office operations, including electronic correspondence, filing, typing reports and distributing mail. Our Administrative Assistant is one of the faces of our organisation, and therefore should have good people and communication skills in order to best work with our clients.

 

Responsibilities

 

  •  Handle office interactions with outside visitors. This includes greeting and directing guests, answering phone inquiries, and handling requests or complaints in a professional manner.

As part of our ongoing commitment to employing locally, we are looking for a suitably qualified and reliable Senior Project Coordinator / Engineer responsible for the overall planning and development of the recycling facility. This role will include liaising with local authorities and stakeholders while planning the design and pre-approval requirements of the project prior to construction. The person in this unique leadership role will then oversee the facility's operational progress in a timely and cost-effective manner.  

 

The role will require the incumbent to liaise with our technical supplier overseas, along with local design engineers during the pre-approval process including planning, directing, coordinating and budgeting, typically via subordinate supervisory personnel in activities concerned with construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems. 

 

You will also participate in the conceptual development of facility design and construction, overseeing its scheduling and implementation.

 

The ideal candidate will be locally based in Gippsland with the necessary qualifications and experience. You will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, starting immediately.

Qualifications and requirements 

  • Tertiary qualification in a technical field, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgy, Mining, Chemistry, or Science degree equivalent.

  • Minimum 15 years experience in operational work such as mining, metallurgical, metal processing, coal processing, gas works, chemical, environmental or related processing fields with a sound understanding of production, health and safety, risk management, environment and processing.

  • Sound track record and experience of working and liaising with the stakeholders, regulatory, industrial bodies, and the community.
